Test for SARS-CoV-2 using PCR technology
To detect an infection with SARS-CoV-2, we use particularly reliable PCR technology. The abbreviation PCR stands for ‘Polymerase Chain Reaction.’ In this method, the genetic material of the virus is amplified. Novogenia GmbH, founded in 2009 by Dr. Daniel Wallerstorfer, is one of the leading gene laboratories in Europe. Our laboratory is ISO-certified (ISO 9001), approved by the Austrian Ministry of Health for the performance of medical gene analyses, works according to the ISO15189 standard, and is registered for accreditation for 2020.
Tests for coronavirus are performed in our BSL-2 laboratory (Biosafety Level 2 for virus analysis). There we have five analysis stations at our disposal. With these, we can analyze up to 100,000 samples per month.
